The New Mexico State Treasurer’s Office (STO) announced appointments to the New Mexico Work and Save Board. The nine-member board was created under the Work and Save Act (House Bill 44) during the 2020 legislative session.
“Work and Save will enable New Mexicans working in private industry to save for retirement, even if their employers do not offer a savings plan or if they’re self-employed,” said State Treasurer Tim Eichenberg. “It’s exciting to be part of a voluntary program that will help thousands of New Mexicans.”
The board members are:
Connor Browne, CFA, is an investor who currently leads the New Mexico Recovery Fund, L.P., a state-backed emergency lending program run by Sun Mountain Capital. He was a portfolio manager on a number of equity funds and strategies while at Thornburg Investment Management.
Cindy Bryan is a small-business consultant with 30 years of experience in public accounting, tax, consulting, and client accounting services. Her audit experience includes local governmental agencies, banks, hospitals, nonprofits, and construction contractors. She has performed desk reviews of financial statements for the New Mexico State Auditor.
Carter Bundy is a political action representative with the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees (AFSCME), an organization he has been with for 20 years. He served on the Retirement Income Security Task Force that provided recommendations to the legislature, culminating in passage of the New Mexico Work and Save Act.
Melissa Coleman is the president and CEO of La Puerta Originals, Inc. Prior to that she was managing partner of Chance Companies, LLC, an investment and real estate holding company, and has worked for the Institute of American Indian Arts, the National Museum of the American Indian, and the United Way.
Lynn Hoffman, JD, has worked in law, real estate development, investment banking, wealth management, and private equity consulting. She was a member of the New Mexico State Investment Council and its Investment Committee. She presently serves as a member of the Investment Committee of the Santa Fe Community Foundation.
Eric C. Quintana is the CEO of Performance Maintenance, Inc. The Española-based sales and service company was founded in 1994 and employs 160 people. PMI is a successful graduate of the U.S Small Business Administration’s 8(a) program and received the HUBZone Small Business of the Year Award from the U.S. Department of Energy.
DeAnza Valencia, JD, is the Advocacy Director for AARP New Mexico. She is a licensed New Mexico attorney and engagement strategist with more than 20 years of experience working in public policy, communications, and community affairs. Valencia served as an advisor to the Retirement Income Security Task Force.
Spencer Wright is a retiree from the State of New Mexico. At the State he was an investment professional, managing the state’s general funds and also a portion of the teachers’ pension plan (Educational Retirement Board). He has an extensive background advising state and local governments about fiscal matters and debt issuance. He served as a legislative analyst for the New Mexico Senate.
Isaiah Zemke is a business agent for the Sheet Metal, Air, Rail & Transportation Workers Local 49 with 20 years of experience in the construction industry in the state of New Mexico. He believes in helping New Mexicans create a better future for themselves and their families and has served as a trustee on multi-employer plans.
The Executive Director of New Mexico Work and Save is Claudia Armijo, JD. Prior to joining the State Treasurer’s Office she worked for the New Mexico Regulation and Licensing Department, the New Mexico Legislative Council Service, and the New Mexico Sentencing Commission.
