State Treasurer’s Office Celebrates Money Smart Month

“Money Smart New Mexico works year-round to highlight the importance of financial literacy in improving the lives of New Mexico’s citizens.”

The New Mexico State Treasurer’s Office understands the value of economic independence and the role that financial literacy plays in helping individuals reach their financial goals. We are committed to helping New Mexicans acquire the information they need to be knowledgeable consumers.

Starting young is key! Learning the fundamentals of finances is good practice for our children and teens so they can make informed financial decisions as they transition into adulthood. It’s never too early to learn how to balance a checkbook or calculate interest or budget for future expenses. In addition, becoming knowledgeable about auto and home financing, and saving for college or retirement, is just as important.

That’s why we’re excited to partner with the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) as well as Wells Fargo, Nusenda, WESST, and several other local organizations and agencies to offer financial literacy classes to students across the state.

April is Money Smart Month for 2019 and we cordially invite you to our celebratory event scheduled for Friday, April 26, 2019 at 9:00 am at the WESST Building, 609 Broadway Boulevard, NE, Albuquerque, NM 87102.
