The New Mexico State Treasurer’s Office is hiring an Accountant Auditor—Operational. This is a full-time, permanent position in Santa Fe, New Mexico. The salary is $30,976-$53,897 annually (Pay Band 60).
The Accountant Auditor—Operational position within the Cash Management Division will provide support for the critical functions of cash forecasting, collateral management, and investment portfolio compliance.
The Accountant Auditor—Operational will:
- Manage and track securities held as collateral to secure state public funds on deposit with New Mexico banks.
- Review bank financial statements and perform quarterly risk assessments to determine levels of collateral required for public funds.
- Use the in-house cash forecasting model to forecast liquidity needs to ensure all state disbursements are funded and to balance the need for cash with the potential for investment opportunities, tracking state revenues and disbursements, and reporting results within State Treasurer’s Office (also to the Board of Finance, Legislative Finance Committee, and other interested parties).
- Contribute to providing compliance services for the agency’s Investment portfolios totaling $6 billion by reviewing documentation on all trade activities and analyzing portfolio mixes to ensure compliance with State Treasurer’s Investment Policy.
The job serves the State Treasurer, the Cash Management Division, the Investment Division, the Collateral Bureau, the state fiscal bank, and financial institutions that hold state funds.
The ideal candidate has experience with reviewing financial statements, portfolio compliance, and tracking state revenues and disbursements.
Minimum Qualifications: Associate’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration and 2 years of experience in accounting, finance, economics and/or statistical analysis, or: High School Diploma and 4 years; Bachelor’s Degree and 0 years.
